Who we are
This website and the Vedic priestly services it describes are provided by Devarajan Dhandapani t/a Vedic Priest UK, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. I am the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.
Email: namaste@vedicpriest.co.uk
Phone / WhatsApp: +447405212868
What information I collect
I collect information when you:
- send an enquiry through the contact form, by email, by phone or by WhatsApp;
- book or discuss a ceremony, puja or other service.
- choose to accept optional Google Analytics through the analytics banner.
This may include:
- your name, email address and phone number;
- the ceremony or puja you are interested in, and your preferred date and UK location;
- details about the occasion, the number of guests and any questions or notes you send me;
- page paths, browser and device information and cookie identifiers, only if you accept analytics;
- information about your religious practice or family ceremonies, where this is needed to arrange the service for you (this is special category data under UK GDPR).
Please do not send me information that I do not need to arrange your ceremony, such as bank or card details.
How I use your information and why
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote. This is necessary to take steps at your request before we enter into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), and it is in my legitimate interest to respond to people who contact me (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To deliver a booked ceremony. This is necessary to perform our contract (Article 6(1)(b)).
- To keep business and tax records. This is necessary to comply with my legal obligations as a sole trader (Article 6(1)(c)).
- Religious and ceremonial details. I only use these to arrange the ceremony you ask for. You give this information voluntarily, and by sharing it you consent to me using it for that purpose (Articles 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a)). You can withdraw this consent at any time.
When you send an enquiry, you tick a consent box confirming you have read this notice. I keep a record of that consent with your enquiry: the consent you gave, the version of this notice (its last-updated date), and the time my server received the enquiry. This lets me show that you gave consent.
The server temporarily uses your IP address to limit repeated form submissions. These rate-limit records expire after 15 minutes and are not included in your enquiry email.
I do not use your information for marketing, and I do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who I share your information with
I only share information where needed to run my services:
- Form and email providers. Enquiry form messages, including the details you enter and your consent record, are received by my server and emailed to my inbox using Hostinger's email service. Email and phone are handled by my email and telephone providers.
- Google Analytics. Only if you accept analytics, Google receives information about visited page paths and technical usage information, including browser and device details. This helps me understand website use, based on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Advertising signals and advertising personalisation are disabled. The website's page-view events exclude query strings, fragments, referrers and enquiry form contents. You can withdraw using Cookie settings in the footer. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google reCAPTCHA. With your separate agreement on the contact form, Google reCAPTCHA v3 loads when you send an enquiry to help prevent spam. Google may use cookies and process browser, device and interaction information. My server verifies Google's response before sending your enquiry. See Google'sPrivacy Policyand Terms of Service. You can contact me by email, phone or WhatsApp without loading reCAPTCHA.
- WhatsApp. If you contact me on WhatsApp, your messages are processed by WhatsApp (Meta Platforms, Inc.) under its own privacy policy.
- Other people involved in your ceremony. Where it is needed to arrange your ceremony, for example a supplier of puja items, I will only share the details they need and only with your agreement.
- Authorities. If the law requires it, for example to HMRC.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, I rely on the safeguards that UK data protection law requires.
Cookies and website analytics
Optional Google Analytics loads only after you accept analytics. Your acceptance or rejection is remembered for 180 days in local storage; you can change it through Cookie settings in the footer. Google reCAPTCHA has a separate agreement and may use cookies when you load it for the contact form. Fonts are served from this website. Visited pages and static assets may be cached for offline use, but contact API requests are not cached. Full details are in theCookies Policy.
Links to WhatsApp, maps or other external sites take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
How long I keep your information
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: deleted within 12 months of the last contact.
- Booking details, invoices and payment records: kept for six years, as required for tax records.
After these periods, I delete or anonymise the information.
How I keep your information safe
This website is served over HTTPS. I limit access to your information to myself and only use providers that take reasonable security measures. No method of transmitting information online is completely secure, so please think about what you share.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal information I hold about you;
- ask me to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask me to delete your information, in certain circumstances;
- ask me to restrict or object to how I use your information;
- ask for your information in a portable format, where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent.
To use any of these rights, email me at namaste@vedicpriest.co.uk. I will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please contact me first so I can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) atico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Children
My services are for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact me on your behalf.
